In 2005 the State of California passed a law that requires a security guard to complete a total of 40 hours of training in order to work as a security guard. This is comprised of the 8 hour Powers to Arrest / Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) course and an additional 32 hours of training beyond that. You must complete all 40 hours of training before you can work as a Security Guard for Elite.
The State of California requires that every individual holding a Security Guard License complete 8 hours of Continuing Education every year, starting the year after the license was issued. For example, if your license was issued in December of 2014 you would take 8 hours of continuing education in December 2015, and every December thereafter.
Continuing Education is an annual requirement that must be completed not more than 1 year after completion of the previous course. In this example, you would need to complete the next 8 hour course before December 12, 2014. The date you complete the training becomes the due date for the following year.
If you have already taken the State approved training form another employer please ask them for a copy of your training certificates. Please turn these in to the Elite education department and we will review them and advise what additional training you need, if any. All certificates must have certain information to comply with State law.
Certificates are available anytime by logging into your online account. From the main page of your account, you will see the courses completed and an option to print or save a copy.
You may contact us via email at: education@eliteservicesusa.com or via phone at: (619) 906-4246 and we will mail a set to you.
You may print as many copies of the online training certificates as you would like. If you would like us to print them and mail them to you, the first copy is free.
Please contact us at education@eliteservicesusa.com or call us at (619) 906-4246. Please keep a copy of any certificates provided to you. The first set is free.
We recommend that you ask a friend or family member if you can use their computer. Many public and community college libraries also offer free use of computers.
We recommend that you break up the training into multiple sessions so that you have the opportunity to learn as much as possible from these materials.
Each module is designed so that it will remember where you left off and it take you back to that point when you login again and select that module. This allows you to take a break from your training and pick up where you left off.
Elite requires that you complete the entire training program before you can start to work.
There are 3 ways that you will know if you have completed a course. (1) Once you complete a course the system will email you a completion notice if you have provided us with your email address. (2) You will have the ability to print a copy of a training certificate. (3) The system will show a completion date next to the course name
